While Riptor's design was basically set when they were called "Toxin," their bio was completely different, describing them as an Atlantean lizard-man.Fist", which is referenced in Cinder's trailer in KI 2013 and is an unlockable fight title for Cinder players. Combo's original name was the much more goofy "Mr. Thunder was "King Thunder", Spinal was " Argo", and Riptor was "Toxin". Cinder had the most changes, going from names like "Pyrotech", "Heat Shade" ,"Meltdown", "Magma", and "Afterburner". Many characters had their names changed during development.
The roster also included a wizard named Midas and a Bonus Boss, a Thunder God named Tremor. Unfortunately, he is badly beaten in the tournament and captured by Ultratech, where he is driven berserk. A man afflicted with the rare disease, Lycanthropy, he enters the Killer Instinct Tournament in hopes of getting a cure promised by Ultratech if he won. Sabrewulf is a major character in the Killer Instinct universe, and has made an appearance in every game.
